Is my POS system ZATCA Phase 2 compliant?
2026-06-10
Your POS is ZATCA Phase 2 compliant only if it generates XML e-invoices, applies a cryptographic stamp and UUID, stores the invoice hash chain, and integrates with the Fatoora platform for clearance or reporting. A printed QR code alone satisfies Phase 1 only, not Phase 2.
The Phase 2 checklist
Ask your POS vendor to demonstrate each of these in a live system:
- Invoices generated as XML (or PDF/A-3 with embedded XML)
- UUID and cryptographic stamp on every invoice
- Hash chain linking each invoice to the previous one
- Onboarding with a ZATCA-issued cryptographic certificate
- Reporting of simplified invoices within 24 hours
- Clearance of standard (B2B) invoices before sharing them
- QR code containing the required Phase 2 fields
What Phase 1 covers
Phase 1 (the generation phase) requires structured electronic invoices with a QR code on simplified invoices, Arabic content and the seller VAT number. Most cash registers can do this. Phase 2 (the integration phase) is where legacy tills fail, because it requires direct integration with ZATCA's Fatoora platform.
How EzRMS handles it
EzRMS is built for both phases. Restaurants on EzRMS issue Phase 1 compliant simplified invoices with QR codes and connect to Fatoora for Phase 2 clearance and reporting, from the same cloud POS used at the counter.
